Healing

I’m healing as expected.  I had a doctors visit this morning with a set of new xrays to see the progress and things are going well.  It’s still going to take some time for the shoulder blade to heal.  My next visit is in six weeks and hopefully by then all the bones will be back to normal.

Since my last posting, I’ve made significant progress after having a major setback from a pulled muscle. I still don’t have the full use of my right arm, however physical therapy has provided tremendous improvement.  I’m having troubles walking more than a block without incurring significant hip pain and therefore while I am continuing PT for my arm the doc prescribed additional PT for the next six weeks.  My thoracic spine is still bothering me significantly and I may need to go see a spine specialist if I’m still having problems after the ribs are healed.

All in all, my mobility is up.  I can breath now with limited to no pain, which was the worst part.  I’m nearly finished with taking pain meds as I only pop one or two a day now vs a couple every hour.  Laying flat still causes a lot of pain and therefore I’m still sleeping in a recliner, and I’m hoping soon this will dissipate so I can finally rest in bed.

Now that I’m gaining mobility I should be getting to posting about the accident, my experience in an African hospital, and a few other topics in the near future as well as going through the rest of th pictures to get them posted as well.

Mike – so glad to hear that you are moving forward – finally! Keep up the great work – I’m sure it’s super frustrating to be so immobile. Will chat w/you soon – take care!

Glad to hear you’re doing better, with less pain and more mobility. We continue remembering you in our prayers almost daily. I guess it will be a good while before you’ll get to do any skydiving. 🙁
